Celtic boss Lennon has repeatedly said that Kenyan international Victor Wanyama will be at the Scottish club next season despite many reports linking him with a possible move to an English Premier League club. Newcastle,QPR, Liverpool,Swanseas and Aston Villa have been rumored to harbor interest in Wanyama.
According to the Mail Online, reigning English Premier League champions Manchester City are also monitoring Wanyama as they have concerns in the defensive midfield position. Gareth Barry is struggling with an injury while Nigel de Jong looking to leave.
The publication further reports that Wanyama could be a good cover for Ivorian Yaya Toure.
His senior brother MacDonald Mariga was also a targeted by Manchester City but lack of a UK work permit,a condition Wanyama has already met, complicated the move and he was quickly signed by Inter Milan.
Wanyama joined his teammates in Netherlands last week for a pre-season camp. He is expected to be part of the squad that lines-up against Inter Milan in a friendly next week before helping the club pass through the UEFA Champions League qualifying stages later this month.
